Was watching a "news" video (for reference 2:30 into video)

it said that China has implemented a new law where :
children under 12 will be regulated to 1 hour per day of video games
and children 13-18 will be regulated to 2 hours per day.
(reporters words... I know that skips age 12)

Tencent games is the first to regulate themselves.  They are using an ID check system... first game is Honor of Kings and will include mobile platforms in the future.

Yes this is for China only... but you know it will have a trickle down effect.

Just thought I'd put it out there.

And what exactly stops a child to lie about his age?

All you need to do is use older persone id when registiring

to D;  I would not be surprised if they check each persons birth certificate (in china) to make sure they are not lying about age.

to Hacker; yeah I suppose you can "borrow" someone else's ID as long as they are not ever going to play the game (or see question below)

IMHO, I think the law is more for the upstanding families in China who try to monitor everything their children do ... not the ones whose parents must leave home and go work in the factories in the cities etc etc..

Which brings up my question to Hacker
Are they able to have multiple accounts in Chinese VCO (legally)?
That would mean you can use the same id over and over for the same game.

We have NSA but China controls it's entire population and has even gone out to try and influence other countries . Let us not forget China is not a Democracy and has a very strict list of rules on how each person will live or be " allowed " some priveliges we take for granted. BUT China is unique in the fact it must keep over 1 billion people fed and happy ( somewhat ). It is not some quirk of fate that China has so many people oversea's in best schools to take the info they learn and then contribute to the country . In the USA we just Immigrate them in , China raises them in house , both methods lead to same direction .
MANY US parents will likely agree with this stance by China on games . FAT American kids are an issue and the military can't get recruits that can do a push up.

Idea is good but implementing it is not realistic. No western goverments will give this information to any gaming company especially to Chinese gaming company. Like in USA good luck asking the government to hand over everyones social security number so they can verify someone age. And for your question when making accout main thing is the phone number thats the easiest way to get your account back or reset forgotten password. And you can use same phone number for as many times as you want i think

so they use phone numbers....
which makes me want to as even more questions...
but i will stop now.

Time will tell what happens...
