I have been playing this game since I was a kid, and now I'm having problems launching this game.
I used the 0.148 version of setup files, automatically updated to 0.151,then manually updated to 0.154, but when the game starts playing the intro, this error message "unable to play due to game compatibility issues" pops out and I can literally find no solutions to that. I googleed potential solutions, found people with similar problems yet they have given no answer. I used win7 x64 system in VMware, which is version 15.5.5.
By the way the System.log displays as follows:
Scanning current directory
Loading modules...
Loaded 0
Reset...
Initializing CORE...
User Rised Exception
D:\work\voyengine\03_程序\代码备份\01_旧引擎\正式版\Source\ENGINE\Sources\core.cpp line 380
no 'engine.ini' file
CORE::Initialize()
CORE::Run()
Object: CORE
FATAL EXCEPTION : System halted
My guess is that this game upgraded some kind of mechanism to detect virtual environment in case any player keeps too many accounts online, but i literally just have no clue about how to fix this.
Thank you for reading this through!
do you run it as administrator ?

I certainly do, tried setting the exe file to run as admin and right-click to manully run as admin, but the problem still exists.
This has been reported before, but I don't think we ever found a solution.
That error looks like the game failed to initialize graphic drivers.
Do other games work fine in VMware?

I have not yet try many games yet, only a game called starsector and it runs smoothly. But even this game is not so long ago like VCO, so i cannot rule out the possibility of graphic card driver problem.

found a couple of threads mentioning the no 'engine.ini' file
Looks like its been a problem since 2019
VCO won't run in any virtual box environment

Strange game crashing error..

unfortunately neither thread found a solution.
you can try asking on discord to see if the other version can run in Linux with a vm, but back in 2019 no one there had an answer either according to the thread.

Yes I read these two threads many times thoroughly but sadly I have no clue about this. For now I suspect the graphic driver may be the cause, also I suspect something from the game itself as well. But in virtual environment there is no room for graphic driver since praphic card doesn't actually exists, let alone the model of it. If it was t he game itself, I have no environment to try installing for now.

Oh and FYI, I just tried using normal win 10 without vmware environment, and it just works, without the issue listed above. Anyway my conclusion is that VMware environment just wont cooperate with VCO as expected, and thanks again for your help!
